Del 13 al 15 de Maig del 2024 el professor i coordinador ERASMUS de l\u2019Escola d\u2019Art Pau Gargallo Manel Clemente va visitar l\u2019Art Academy of Latvia a Riga,\u00a0 en el marc del programa ERASMUS +. L\u2019objectiu de la seva mobilitat\u00a0 era fer una presentaci\u00f3 de les institucions Escola d\u2019Art Pau Gargallo i ESDAPC i impartir una confer\u00e8ncia sobre el patrimoni monumental commemoratiu a Europa i ja de forma m\u00e9s expl\u00edcita a Catalunya.<\/p>\n

Al llarg de la seva estada el professor va ser rebut pel rector de l\u2019Art Academy of Latvia Kristaps Zari\u0146\u0161 i per la professora M\u0101ra Lorberga, que va actuar com anfitriona. Aix\u00ed mateix va poder contactar amb les coordinadores internacionals Agnese Bloka i Amanda Revalde, amb \u00a0la cap de relacions internacionals Krista Petrauska,\u00a0 amb el cap del departament d\u2019escultura Glebs Pantelejevs i amb\u00a0 l\u2019artista i professor d\u2019escultura Aigars Bik\u0161e.<\/p>\n

El dimarts 14 de Maig Manel Clemente va impartir la confer\u00e8ncia \u00abIn memory of: Memorial monumental heritage in Europe: removal, conservation and creation of new memorials.The case of Catalunya\u00bb. La seva presentaci\u00f3, vinculada a un treball d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 de llarga durada, es va vehicular mitjan\u00e7ant una primera introducci\u00f3 a les pol\u00edtiques de mem\u00f2ria de l\u2019Europa contempor\u00e0nia a partir d\u2019una selecci\u00f3 d\u2019imatges de l\u2019autor de monuments commemoratius de Kiev, Mosc\u00fa, Tallin, Sofia, Tirana i altres\u00a0 ciutats europees. A continuaci\u00f3 es va centrar en el context de l\u2019estat espanyol i molt especialment de Catalunya a partir dels monuments commemoratius de la Guerra Civil projectats tant durant la dictadura franquista\u00a0 com durant la transici\u00f3 i la democr\u00e0cia fins als nostres dies,\u00a0 atorgant una especial rellev\u00e0ncia als dedicats a la figura de Llu\u00eds Companys.<\/p>\n

Durant la seva mobilitat\u00a0 el professor va tenir tamb\u00e9 l\u2019oportunitat de visitar i fotografiar diferents museus i memorials de la ciutat de Riga, acompanyat per la professora M\u0101ra Lorberga. Arran de la invasi\u00f3 russa a Ukraina, el govern let\u00f3 ha aplicat una estricta normativa de retirada de la via p\u00fablica dels monuments sovi\u00e8tics i ha fomentat\u00a0\u00a0 la creaci\u00f3 de nous monuments vinculats a les v\u00edctimes de l\u2019ocupaci\u00f3 sovi\u00e8tica.<\/p>\n

From 13tn to 15th May 2024, the teacher and ERASMUS coordinator of the Escola d\u2019Art Pau Gargallo Manel Clemente visited the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga, Latvia, as part of the ERASMUS + program. The aim of his mobility was to make a presentation of the Pau Gargallo Art School and ESDAPC institutions and give a lecture on the commemorative monumental heritage in Europe and more explicitly in Catalonia. <\/em>During his stay the professor was received by the rector of the Art Academy of Latvia Kristaps Zari\u0146\u0161 and by professor M\u0101ra Lorberga, who acted as hostess. He was also able to contact the international coordinators Agnese Bloka and Amanda Revalde, the head of international relations Krista Petrauska,\u00a0 the head of the sculpture department\u00a0 Glebs Pantelejevs and the artist and sculpture teacher Aigars Bik\u0161e.<\/em><\/p>\n

On Tuesday 14 th May Manel Clemente give the lecture \u00abIn memory of: Memorial monumental heritage in Europe: removal, conservation and creation of new memorials.The case of Catalunya\u00bb. <\/em>His presentation, linked to a long-term research project, was conveyed through a first introduction to the politics of memory in contemporary Europe based on a selection of the author's images of memorials in Kyiv , Moscow, Tallinn, Sofia, Tirana and others European cities. Then, it focused on the context of the Spanish state and especially Catalonia, starting from the Civil War memorials projected both during the Franco dictatorship and during the transition and democracy up to the present day, giving particular relevance the ones dedicated to the figure of Llu\u00eds Companys.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>During his mobility,\u00a0 the professor had the opportunity to visit and photograph different museums and memorials in the city of Riga, accompanied by professor M\u0101ra Lorberga. In the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Latvian government has implemented strict regulations to remove Soviet monuments from public streets and has encouraged the creation of new monuments linked to the victims of the Soviet occupation.<\/em><\/p>\n
