From Abroad 25-26 Talks and lectures in English about Art and Design<\/em><\/p>\n

Maria Koz\u0142owska is an incoming ERASMUS student from the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow who studied Illustration at our institution during the spring semester of the academic year 25-26. On January 23, Maria presented her artistic portfolio in the context of her studies in Krakow, addressed to students and teachers of the Illustration department of our school:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy name is Maria Koz\u0142owska. I am a fifth-year student of Art and Education at the University of the National Education Commission in Krak\u00f3w, currently completing the master\u2019s degree track. I am also a practitioner of art education with fifteen years of experience conducting workshops and classes in a community cultural center. From the very beginning, my artistic path has combined creative practice with attentiveness to people, emotions, and everyday life.<\/p>\n

My artistic education is interdisciplinary in nature. Three years of study in an architectural class at secondary school provided me with solid foundations in technical drawing, the study of light and shadow, and constructive thinking. My master\u2019s studies, complemented by a two-year specialization in art therapy, as well as certificates in bibliotherapy and sensory art (sensoplasty), have shaped my approach to the image as a tool for narration, communication, and emotional regulation. Additional experience in ceramics and sewing has broadened my understanding of materiality and the handcrafted nature of creative work.<\/p>\n

I work primarily in drawing and illustrative techniques. My favorite means of expression are colored pencils and markers, which allow for direct, intuitive contact with the image, quick responses to ideas, and the creation of a soft, welcoming visual narrative. I often combine these with collage, photography, oil pastels, or modeling clay, treating technique as a means rather than an end in itself.<\/p>\n

I draw inspiration mainly from imagination, observations of everyday life, and the inner world. My works frequently feature fairy-tale and fantastical characters\u2014elves, creatures, plant-human hybrids\u2014as well as women and themes of femininity, domesticity, humor, and the warmth of everyday rituals. I am interested in narration that is close to a child\u2019s perspective, yet not infantile\u2014rich in symbols, metaphors, and emotions that remain readable for an adult viewer as well.<\/p>\n

The style of my work can be described as illustrative, narrative, and organic. It is characterized by a clear line, rhythm, repetition of motifs, and careful attention to atmosphere\u2014often balancing between calmness and subtle unease, humor and reflection. An important aspect of my artistic practice is the sense of \u201chome,\u201d understood both literally and emotionally.<\/p>\n

The portfolio I present is a record of my artistic path, interests, and formal and narrative explorations. The individual series focus on narrative drawing, portraiture, character illustration, and the construction of imagined worlds. Each work is an attempt to tell a story\u2014short, symbolic, and sometimes intimate.<\/p>\n

My greatest artistic dream<\/strong> is to create an original illustrated children\u2019s book\u2014one that combines image, text, and emotion; that can accompany a child in everyday life, provide a sense of safety, and at the same time nurture imagination and sensitivity. I believe that illustration has a real power to build relationships and worlds, and it is in this direction that I wish to further develop my artistic practice.\u201d<\/p>\n

La Maria Koz\u0142owska \u00e9s una estudiant Erasmus de la Universitat de la Comissi\u00f3 Nacional d'Educaci\u00f3 de Crac\u00f2via, que va estudiar Il\u00b7lustraci\u00f3 a la nostra instituci\u00f3 durant el semestre de primavera del curs acad\u00e8mic 2025-2026. El 23 de gener, la Maria va fer una presentaci\u00f3 del seu portafoli art\u00edstic com a part dels seus estudis a Crac\u00f2via, adre\u00e7ada a estudiants i professors del departament d'Il\u00b7lustraci\u00f3 de la nostra escola:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cEm dic Maria Koz\u0142owska. S\u00f3c estudiant de cinqu\u00e8 any d'Art i Educaci\u00f3 a la Universitat de la Comissi\u00f3 Nacional d'Educaci\u00f3 de Crac\u00f2via, i actualment estic completant el m\u00e0ster. Tamb\u00e9 s\u00f3c una professional de l'educaci\u00f3 art\u00edstica amb quinze anys d'experi\u00e8ncia impartint tallers i classes en un centre cultural comunitari. Des del principi, la meva traject\u00f2ria art\u00edstica ha combinat la pr\u00e0ctica creativa amb l'atenci\u00f3 a les persones, les emocions i la vida quotidiana. La meva educaci\u00f3 art\u00edstica \u00e9s de naturalesa interdisciplin\u00e0ria. Tres anys d'estudi en una classe d'arquitectura a l'escola secund\u00e0ria em van proporcionar bases s\u00f2lides en dibuix t\u00e8cnic, l'estudi de la llum i l'ombra i el pensament constructiu. Els meus estudis de m\u00e0ster, complementats amb una especialitzaci\u00f3 de dos anys en artter\u00e0pia, aix\u00ed com certificats en biblioter\u00e0pia i art sensorial (sensopl\u00e0stia), han donat forma al meu enfocament de la imatge com a eina per a la narraci\u00f3, la comunicaci\u00f3 i la regulaci\u00f3 emocional. L'experi\u00e8ncia addicional en cer\u00e0mica i costura ha ampliat la meva comprensi\u00f3 de la materialitat i la naturalesa artesanal del treball creatiu.<\/em><\/p>\n

Treballo principalment en dibuix i t\u00e8cniques il\u00b7lustratives. Els meus mitjans d'expressi\u00f3 preferits s\u00f3n els llapis de colors i els retoladors, que permeten un contacte directe i intu\u00eftiu amb la imatge, respostes r\u00e0pides a les idees i la creaci\u00f3 d'una narrativa visual suau i acollidora. Sovint combino aquests amb collage, fotografia, pastels a l'oli o argila per modelar, tractant la t\u00e8cnica com un mitj\u00e0 m\u00e9s que no pas com una finalitat en si M'inspiro principalment en la imaginaci\u00f3, les observacions de la vida quotidiana i el m\u00f3n interior. Les meves obres sovint presenten personatges de contes de fades i fant\u00e0stics \u2014elfs, criatures, h\u00edbrids planta-hum\u00e0\u2014, aix\u00ed com dones i temes de feminitat, domesticitat, humor i la calidesa dels rituals quotidians. M'interessa una narraci\u00f3 propera a la perspectiva d'un nen, per\u00f2 no infantil, rica en s\u00edmbols, met\u00e0fores i emocions que tamb\u00e9 siguin llegibles per a un espectador adult. L'estil de la meva obra es pot descriure com a il\u00b7lustratiu, narratiu i org\u00e0nic. Es caracteritza per una l\u00ednia clara, ritme, repetici\u00f3 de motius i una acurada atenci\u00f3 a l'atmosfera, sovint equilibrant entre la calma i la subtil inquietud, l'humor i la reflexi\u00f3. Un aspecte important de la meva pr\u00e0ctica art\u00edstica \u00e9s el sentit de \"llar\", ent\u00e8s tant literalment com emocionalment.<\/em><\/p>\n

El portafoli que presento \u00e9s un registre del meu cam\u00ed art\u00edstic, interessos i exploracions formals i narratives. Les s\u00e8ries individuals se centren en el dibuix narratiu, el retrat, la il\u00b7lustraci\u00f3 de personatges i la construcci\u00f3 de mons imaginaris. Cada obra \u00e9s un intent de contar una hist\u00f2ria: curta, simb\u00f2lica i de vegades \u00edntima.<\/em><\/p>\n

El meu somni art\u00edstic m\u00e9s gran<\/strong> \u00e9s crear un llibre infantil il\u00b7lustrat original, que combini imatge, text i emoci\u00f3; que pugui acompanyar un nen en la vida quotidiana, proporcionar una sensaci\u00f3 de seguretat i, alhora, alimentar la imaginaci\u00f3 i la sensibilitat. Crec que la il\u00b7lustraci\u00f3 t\u00e9 un poder real per construir relacions i mons, i \u00e9s en aquesta direcci\u00f3 que desitjo desenvolupar encara m\u00e9s la meva pr\u00e0ctica art\u00edstica. mateixa.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
