Riga, Latvia<\/p>\n<h6>Ceramics and contemporary art in the Baltic countries<br \/>\nPresentation based on the works of young students and artists<\/h6>\n<p>Tuesday 21st May 2019 at 13:00<br \/>\nroom 20<\/p>\n<p>Tradition and its conservation are an essential part of cultural life in the Baltic countries. This tradition is reflected in the works of contemporary plastic art when artists combine traditional technics with audiovisual media in their installations.<br \/>\nOne of the most developed artistic disciplines is Ceramics. Young artists work with red and black clay and porcelain, while adding audiovisual material.<\/p>\n<p>We can mention a work by an artist who recently finished her studies at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Liene Mackus, who works with non-colored and non-glazed porcelain, recreating small stories of life itself, such as the work \"At his own pace\". She has depicted a real man from a small Latvian town who can prune trees and shrubs while giving them shape of exotic plants and animals such as palm trees and camels. The artist has recreated her work process in cartoons.<\/p>\n<p>The young artist Ieva Kaula, who studied Visual Communication<br \/>\nat the Estonian Academy of Arts and now is studying Ceramics, combines structures in black clay with slow videos about nature and rural life in Latvia.<br \/>\nIn her presentation Professor Demakova will explain the relationship between ideas, concepts and materials, while projecting short videos.<\/p>\n<p>Below are the images of two works by these Latvian artists:<\/p>\n<p>-La Mackus, \"At his own pace,\" porcelain, cartoons, 2015<br \/>\n- Ieva Kaula, \"Memories about the future\", black clay, video, various objects, 2016<\/p>\n<p>More information: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hel%C4%93na_Demakova\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hel%C4%93na_Demakova<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>La tradici\u00f3 i la seva conservaci\u00f3 s\u00f3n part essencial de la vida cultural als Pa\u00efsos B\u00e0ltics. Aquesta tradici\u00f3 es veu reflectida en les obres de les arts pl\u00e0stiques contempor\u00e0nies en les qu\u00e8 els artistes combinen les seves instal\u2022lacions t\u00e8cniques tradicionals amb mitjans audiovisuals.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Una de les disciplines art\u00edstiques que est\u00e0 m\u00e9s desenvolupada \u00e9s la cer\u00e0mica. Els joves artistes treballen amb argiles vermelles i negres i amb porcellana, tot i afegint material audiovisual.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Podem esmentar una obra d'una artista que ha acabat els seus estudis a la Estonian Academy of Arts recentment, Liene Mackus, que treballa amb porcellana no acolorida i no glacejada, recreant petites hist\u00f2ries de la vida mateixa, com per exemple a l\u2019obra \"Al seu propi ritme\". Ha representat un home real d'una petita ciutat letona que podant arbres i arbustos esculpeix figures de plantes i animals ex\u00f2tics -per a nosaltres-, com palmeres i camells.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>L'artista ha recreat en dibuixos animats el seu proc\u00e9s de treball.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>La jove artista Ieva Kaula, que va estudiar Comunicaci\u00f3<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Visual a la Estonian Academy of Arts i que ara estudia Cer\u00e0mica, combina estructures en argila negre amb v\u00eddeos lents sobre la naturalesa i la vida rural de Let\u00f2nia.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>A la seva presentaci\u00f3 la professora Demakova explicar\u00e0 la relaci\u00f3 existent entre les idees, els conceptes i els materials, tot i projectant v\u00eddeos de curta durada.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A
