Participació en la VDK International Week a Vilnius
Els professors i coordinadors ERASMUS de l’Escola d’Art Pau Gargallo Manel Clemente i Carles Torné varen visitar la Vilnius College of Design a Vilnius (Lituània), en el marc del programa ERASMUS+. L’objectiu de la seva mobilitat era participar en la VDK International Week 2025 amb una conferència sobre fotografia espanyola contemporània. En paral·lel la seva visita va servir per consolidar l’acord institucional amb la VDK i per contactar amb professorat de diferents universitats europees.
Durant la seva estada varen ser acollits per Viktorija Bočkutė, cap del Departament de Relacions Internacionals i Gestió de Projectes, que amb l’equip docent de la VDK varen assegurar l’èxit de la Setmana Internacional. Aquesta, celebrada anualment cada primavera, tractava aquest any sobre la intuïció en el món de l’art i el disseny:
El lema d'enguany és "Confiar en la intuïció en el disseny actual". En el món del disseny en constant evolució, la intuïció és clau. Es tracta d'equilibrar els teus instints creatius amb rigor intel·lectual i utilitzar aquesta combinació única per resoldre reptes de disseny. Durant la setmana, explorarem com la presa de decisions intuïtiva afecta el procés creatiu, com fomenta la innovació i com pot conduir a solucions innovadores i centrades en el disseny.
Manel Clemente i Carles Torné van analitzar el pes de la intuïció en la creació fotogràfica a partir de la seva conferència sobre fotografia espanyola contemporània, centrada en l’obra de Chema Madoz, Jordi Bernadó i Joan Fontcuberta.
La setmana va estar plena de debats amb la participació dels Prof. E. Skerstonas (Lituània) / «The Ideology of Self-Image»; Prof. Ann Bessemans (Bèlgica) / «Typography and its guideing role within ways of reading in a multi-diverse reading landscapes»; Prof. David Bennewith (Països Baixos) / "Lighter Writing"; Prof. Gailė Pranckūnaitė i Prof. Milda Kuraitýtė (Lituània) / presentació de "Fonts 2: Methods and Secrets"; Prof. Dr. Jelena Drobac (Sèrbia) / “Exploration of forgotten fashion logos from former Yugoslavia (1945–1992)“; Prof. A. Janonytė-Mulienė (Lituània) / "Intuitive Prints - Between Play and Creativity" i Prof. Berry Sanders (The Netherland) / “Intuition’s role in shaping personal and authentic design styles“.
Tot el professorat participant va agrair l'estupenda acollida per part del professorat de la Vilnius College of Design així com va elogiar la participació del seu alumnat durant la International Week.

The ERASMUS professors and coordinators of the Escola d’Art Pau Gargallo Manel Clemente and Carles Torné visited the Vilnius College of Design in Vilnius (Lithuania), within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program. The objective of their mobility was to participate in the VDK International Week 2025 with a conference on contemporary Spanish photography. In parallel, their visit served to consolidate the institutional agreement with the VDK and to contact professors from different European universities.
During their stay, they were welcomed by Viktorija Bočkutė, Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, who, together with the VDK faculty team, ensured the success of the International Week. This, celebrated annually every spring, this year dealt with intuition in the world of art and design:
This year’s theme is “Trusting Intuition in Today’s Design”. In the ever-evolving world of design, intuition is key. It’s about balancing your creative instincts with intellectual rigor, and using this unique mix to solve design challenges. During the week, we will explore how intuitive decision-making impacts the creative process, how it fosters innovation, and how it can lead to groundbreaking, design-centered solutions.
The week was packed with thought-provoking discussions, including Prof. Ann Bessemans «Typography and its guiding role within ways of reading in a multi-diverse reading landscapes», Prof. E. Skerstonas’ (Lithuania) “The Ideology of Self-Image,” which examined style and fashion through a cross-disciplinary lens. David Bennewith (The Netherlands) introduced “Lighter Writing” as an unconventional approach to typography, while Gailė Pranckūnaitė and Milda Kuraitýtė (Lithuania) revealed hidden “Fonts 2: Methods and Secrets.”, and T. Kliukoit’s (Lithuania) “Chemigrams – Reading the Unconscious” challenged perceptions of visual language. Other highlights included Prof. Dr. Jelena Drobac’s (Serbia) exploration of forgotten fashion logos from former Yugoslavia (1945–1992), A. Janonytė-Mulienė’s (Lithuania) “Intuitive Prints – Between Play and Creativity,” and Berry Sanders’ (The Netherlands) deep dive into intuition’s role in shaping personal and authentic design styles.
All participating teachers thanked the wonderful welcome of the Vilnius College of Design and praised the participation of their students during the International Week.
