Participation of three final animation projects at the UPward Student Film Festival

Last July 2025, three final animation projects from the 2024-25 course at the Pau Gargallo School of Art participated in the UPward Student Film Festival, organized as part of the Prishtina International Summer University at the National Theatre of Kosovo.

The animated short films “Computers Friends” by Yaiza Povea Ramírez, “When the Lights Go Out” by Mireia Flores, and “The Red Kitchen” by Àlex Puche López, specially selected to participate in this festival, received a very positive reception from the attending audience.

This participation was part of the mobility program that took place from July 8 to 12, 2025, in which Professor Manel Clemente visited the University of Pristina, Kosovo, under the ERASMUS+ program, an experience that was presented on September 1, 2025, at the Pau Gargallo School of Art.

This mobility is part of the project linking the CARTES consortium, of which ESDAP is a member. Other teachers who took part in the mobility were David Gómez Lozano, director of the Higher School of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Madrid, Isabel García Cuadrado, professor at the School of Art of Oviedo, and José Maria Segura Ramiro, professor at the Higher School of Art of Asturias in Avilés.

The aim of their mobility was to participate in the UPward Student Film Festival, registered at the Prishtina International Summer University through a public presentation of the ESDAPC school and the screening at the National Theatre of Kosovo of a selection of short films by the animation students of EA Pau Gargallo.

During their stay, the teachers were generously welcomed by the professors and filmmakers of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Pristina, More Raça, Durim Kryeziu, and Blerim Gjinovci. They also had the opportunity to connect with students and faculty from different European universities invited to the Prishtina International Summer University.

During the festival, the animated short films “Computers Friends” by Yaiza Povea Ramírez, “When the Lights Go Out” by Mireia Flores, and “The Red Kitchen” by Àlex Puche López were screened. All three were very well received. Participation in this mobility has helped establish an institutional agreement between ESDAPC and the University of Pristina and prepare possible collaboration projects with this institution and various higher education schools and universities in Europe.
